Also for the Highlander LE, there's an LE Plus Package, which adds three-zone climate control, power tailgate with flip-up glass, satellite radio capability, and a power driver's seat.
Progressing up, the Highlander XLE trim level features:
Options for the Highlander XLE include a Blu-Ray DVD entertainment system and captain chairs which will replace the second-row bench seat.
A Limited Trim is offered with the standard V6. Limited models include a blind-spot monitoring system, 19-inch wheels, second-row captain's chairs, heated and ventilated front seats, rear parking sensors, a power front passenger seat, and premium audio. A panoramic roof is an individual option.
For the Highlander XLE and Highlander Limited trims, a feature called Driver Easy Speak employs a microphone to pipe front-seat voices to back-seat occupants—making a message to third-row kids so much easier and calmer.
At the top of the line is the Limited Platinum Package. The Limited Platinum includes the Driver Technology Package (Lane Departure Alert with Automatic high beams, Cruise Control, Safety Connect, and pre-collision with Dynamic Radar); a heated steering wheel, heated captain's chairs, rain-sensing wipers, and a panoramic sunroof.
For 2016, all Highlander models with a V-6 engine include the Towing Package, which shoulders up to a 5,000-pound pulling capability. This great hauling bundle features a heavy-duty radiator, transmission oil cooler, engine oil cooler, 150-amp alternator, and 200-watt fan coupling.
2016 Toyota Highlander presents a four-cylinder or V6 engine choice with a selection of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive model for most of the versions (see separate page for Hybrid edition). All Highlanders are fuel-efficient and smooth-running -- whether you need to run errands around town -- or you’re driving cross-country to visit friends or relatives.
The standard 2.7-liter four-cylinder comes synchronized with a six-speed automatic and is available only with front-wheel drive. It generates a solid 185 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque for an easy ride.
Most Highlander models will come with the 3.5-liter V6 engine that creates a beefy 270 horsepower and 248 pounds-feet of torque. It’s matched with a six-speed automatic, but can be paired up with either with front- or all-wheel drive. It’s a smooth, strong, and fuel-efficient choice.
For 2016, all V6 (non-hybrid) engine driven Highlander models will include a towing package that grants them to tow up to 5,000 pounds. The four-cylinder versions allows up to 1,500 pounds.
This year’s Highlander showcases a standard rearview camera, eight airbags and Hill-start Assist. Outward visibility is another outstanding feature in this current generation of the Highlander.
2016 Highlander offers advanced safety options including blind-spot monitors, parking sensors, and a lane-departure warning system. A Driver Technology Package adds adaptive cruise control and a pre-collision warning system.
